If you find a crook without refreshing then buy it. If not, refreshing a maximum of 2 times. If you do not get it, buy a basic item like "Novice Blade" or "Regular Bow". They are 15 gold each.

Try to get more crooks. If not possible, get more basic weapons. (you should have at least 2 crooks if a successful run).

Roll until you get a wicked staff. Pick up as many crooks as you can. If you in poverty and cant buy the staff then freeze it. You should put all your "crit lesser potions" on your crook to ensure you get a crook more frequently.

Continue to get a star 2 crook. If you have the merge perk then get 2 of 2 star crooks.
